Here are four things I keep coming back to:
1. Nathan is, without a doubt, the greatest person I've ever met. I am continually in awe of his zest for life, thoughtfulness, creativity, persistance, passion, drive, and kindness and humbled that he loves me.
2. Our marriage is a wonderful equal partnership. I never feel dominated. We are equally yolked in most everything - housework, yardwork, remodeling work, paid work. He often says that neither of us "wear the pants" - we each get a leg. This is very important to me.
3. In the past 4 years, we have each changed so much from the 19 and 22 year olds we were when we married. But the amazing thing is that even though we've changed dramatically since then (goals, views on the world, abilities, talents, etc.), we've grown into people who are still perfectly compatible. I know this is partially because we share our thoughts and talk through issues in the world around us. It's so fun to have conversations concerning sociology because he's listened and learned from me for 5 years and understands sociological issues. And we also like talking about financial issues because I've learned so much from him. The MBA class I took this past semester was quite managable because, even though I've never taken a business course, Nathan has been teaching me about business and finance for years. We've learned so much from each other and (I think) have made each other better by encouraging one another to be more open and inquisitive. We're nearly always on the same page and when we're not, we meet in the middle.
Evening in San Antonio with my family for the San Antonio temple open house and to celebrate Nathan's 22nd birthday, May 2005I'm madly in love with this man.
I'm beyond lucky to be his wife.
